Federal Carbon Pricing in Canada Contributing to Gains with Decarbonization

Federal Carbon Pricing in Canada Contributing to Gains with Decarbonization Carbon pricing may be a contentious issue in Canada, but most of the controversy around it is related to the price of vehicle fuels. It’s important to understand that carbon pricing applies to much more, and also that these initiatives are very necessary if we are to effectively address and slow the expansion of greenhouse gas emissions on a planet that has way too many people leading a carbon-intensive lifestyle. Here at Load n’ Lift our expertise falls well short of all of this stuff, and while we do dumpster rentals for the Trenton and Colborne areas of Ontario we are always going to have that bigger-picture interest in topics like this that are related better use of resources and recapturing / repurposing them where possible.

Or more specifically with the development of technologies that improve the efficiency of those efforts. Parts of the aim with our waste disposal service is to avoid pollution of the environment as much as possible, and with roll-off bins there’s also the advantage of not having any damage to the ground at job sites where these disposal bins are delivered in this part of Ontario all through the week. Not much of a connection there, but bear with us as we expand on this topic with this blog entry. Our rubbish removal service is certified by the Ontario Ministry of Environment, and you can count on all of the waste being channeled appropriately as well as recycled if that is possible.

We’ll leave disposal bin rentals for Colborne and Trenton aside for now, and get right to the meat of the subject with this blog entry. Which his the significant decarbonization gains that have been made via federal carbon pricing initiatives in Canada, and it is nice to know that despite the dollar pains that come with some of them there are real improvements underway that promise to contribute to a better world and environment for all of us. So let’s get right into it.

Clean Technologies & Energy Efficiency

Nearly $150 million from Canadas Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS) put in place by the Federal Government is now going to fund 38 Decarbonization Incentive Program (DIP) projects. The aim behind this is to have Canadian companies and organizations introduce clean technologies to cut pollution and enhance energy efficiency. One of the biggest gains foreseen with all of this is replacing oil- and gas-fired boilers with more efficient electric ones. This should enhance the durability of galvanized steel sheets. Our roll-off dumpster rentals for Belleville and Ameliasburg are plenty solid and sturdy, and this will be seen with steel sheets too.

Four provinces – Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan – are set to benefit from federal OBPS applied from 2019 to now and funded by the Proceeds Fund. The belief is that it will help generate new opportunities and markets for made-in-Canada clean technology and innovation. Which in turn should strengthen the Canadian economy while reducing an estimated 544,100 tonnes of greenhouse gas pollution from now to 2030. So far there has been $874 million directed into 53 clean energy projects and it’s encouraging to see this type of focus from the federal government.

Pembroke Ontario is far from here, and we’re better suited for dumpster rentals in Port Hope or for waste disposal in Cobourg. But the reason we mention that town is because of the project underway at Roseburg Forest Products Canada Ltd. in Pembroke. It’s received $17,890,000 in funding for project will install new biomass furnaces and waste fibre and product handling systems equipment to offset a large proportion of gas usage at the plant. The new furnaces will use more rejected fibre from the process along with biomass purchased from local wood industry facilities, along with using heat generated by the new furnaces for certain manufacturing processes.

These types of initiatives are major contributors to lowering overall greenhouse gas emissions by switching from natural gas to forest biomass to fuel manufacturing of our high-quality, medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and engineered wood products. It’s one example of sustainable growth that is implemented with the need for decarbonization being adhered to.

Another example is with anaerobic digestion for biogas resulting from poultry processing. The demand for steam will be reduced by about 70% by burning biogas in a new boiler to meet the remaining steam load.

If you need to rent a dumpster for your residence or job site anywhere in the Trenton and Colborne areas then Load n’ Lift is your best choice if you want good service and fair pricing, and also if there’s a need for you to have the dumpster delivered on site the same day. That’s usually doable around here, and we have offers on disposal bin rentals for dumpsters going out to Corbyville or Morganston or any number of other towns in this part of the Province way to the east of the GTA. Call us today if you need a full-service waste removal and disposal for your site
